UPWARD MOBILITY THROUGH CONNECTIVITY

The Phoenix Local Organizing Committee is a group of people working to end the poverty and lack that plague most of our communities.

By pooling our resources – banking Black, supporting Black businesses, candidates for local office, redeeming the power of our arts and cultural expression and more, we are implementing a powerful program of self sufficiency.

While government policy can help to resolve our many issues, we know by now that politicians won’t save us. We know that our community is not a priority for government agencies – if even a concern.

We are the saviors we’ve been looking for. The Phoenix Local Organizing Committee is turning our focus inward, to love, serve, and depend on ourselves.

SUPPORT THE CAUSE

We are organizing an impact project for schools in Monrovia and District 4 in Liberia. Your donation will help us give the gift of education to over 2,000 children in 18 schools across Liberia.

The children of Liberia understand the importance of education. For them, their education is a means to a better life for themselves and their families. The walk to school is over two hours. Once they have arrived, there is no breakfast or lunch. The classrooms are in deplorable conditions. There is insufficient seating, outdated textbooks, and no supplies. The infrastructure across the school districts does not allow for proper sanitation. The toilets do not flush and the plumbing systems have not been updated in over two decades, Children stand in classrooms with rainwater pouring in from the dilapidated roofing.

A few schools have begun holding classes outside beneath the trees in an effort to protect children from any toxins that may fall with the rain . But the weather will not hold forever. It will inevitably become too cold to sit outside. When the children finish their lessons for the day, they will take the long walk home where dinner is not guaranteed due to the extreme poverty in most of the villages. They will make the trek to school again in the morning , God willing. Their passion, spirit and determination is an example for us all.

Working together we can provide chairs, desks , blackboards and supplies. We can repair rooftops, ceilings, and plumbing. This will eliminate the many educational barriers faced by students. We have builders, plumbers and even electricians willing to do the work. Will you help fund our impact project to make it a reality?
